Agent O - American Pale Ale - 6% - This beer predates Tox Brewing altogether. While an all Citra Pale Ale is not an original concept in 2018, Jon first brewed this over five years ago on his back porch and called it Orange Cap... because he only had orange bottle caps at the time he went to bottle it. This beer achieves all of it's IBUs from late boil additions of Citra, and is then heavily whirlpooled and dry-hopped with Citra for maximum Citra hop flavor optimization.
Angel Wings – American IPA – 6.7% ABV – Our American IPA and one of the first ever Tox originals. It is the culmination of our always inspired and never satisfied urge to make a hop forward IPA that meets our standards. The result is a full bodied treat that is hop heavy and brilliant orange in color. Angel Wings takes flight on wings of dank citrus and a strong citrus aroma, all wrapped in a delicate halo of bitterness.
Angel’s Trumpet – Double IPA – 8.5% ABV – This is a scaled up and extremely hop saturated version of our beloved Angel Wings. It starts with more of the same hop selection added during the kettle and fermentation to exude heavy citrus and tropical fruit flavors. We dare you to put down your glass once this deceivingly high ABV treat coats your palate with enslaving hop oils.
Black Widow – Imperial Stout – 8% ABV – Our strong stout chock-full of roasted barley, special dark malts, and crystal malts. This is all rounded off with a pleasant bite of bitterness and fermented with American Ale Yeast. Dangerously drinkable, this thick stout is loaded with notes of cocoa, nuts, and dark roasted coffee.
Detox – Pilsner – 5% ABV – There is nothing more pure and less forgiving than one of our personal favorite styles, a German style Pilsner. Our version is dry and crisp on the malt profile and hopped with Huell Melon and Mandarina Bavaria. We also sneak in a touch of dry hops to enhance the floral flavors. It's another perfect beer for those afternoons when you need to pace yourself, but still want a flavorful treat.
Devil’s Trumpet – Double IPA – 8.2% ABV – Devil's Trumpet is the first Double IPA we ever brewed at home and on our 5 BBL Brewhouse. It started as an experiment to brew a hop forward Double IPA with readily available hops that have notable flavors of citrus and pine. The result was a flavor punch of accidental wonderment. We fell in love with the favors of peach and pine and immediately added this gem to our lineup.
Double Agent O - Imperial IPA - 9% - There isn't much description needed here. We scaled up Agent O into a shameless Juice Bomb. This is our all Citra Imperial IPA that features all late-boil and whirlpool hop additions, with a heavy dry hopping to follow... all with Citra. Be careful, this smooth and juicy 9% will sneak up on you like a Double O Agent.
Nerium – Pale Ale – 5.8% ABV - Nerium is a hop forward Pale Ale that we characterize as having the flavor of "Dankberries". It starts with an extremely simple malt bill and ale yeast lets the American and Australian hop flavors shine. Enjoy the hazy appearance and hop aromas as flavors of pine, berries, and subtle tropical fruit are soon to follow.
Deadly Nightshade – Coffee Milk Stout – 4.7% ABV – This milk stout uses less roasted malts and milk sugar to let the sweetness and rich, bold flavors come through. We want it to be approachable but pleasantly sweet so we thickened it up to a texture that screams dessert... with a coffee punch! Each batch is dosed with 15 pounds of a different single origin bean, or blend of coffee that we select, roast, and grind ourselves at Tox.
Placebo Effect – Cream Ale – 5% ABV – We love our fancy craft beer like family, but sometimes even we just want to enjoy some yellow fizzy stuff. This is our signature cream ale made with the simplest grains and corn (yes, corn). Meeting the style guidelines of one of two beer styles that was truly invented in America, this cream ale holds a place in our hearts as the most drinkable beer we've been able to concoct. It's great for a day of mowing your lawn, a round of flip cup, or kicking back on game day.
Pollen – Pale Ale – 5.5% ABV - Pollen is our rotating hop Pale Ale series. Pollen uses a consistent very simple grain selection and ale yeast paired with a rotating selection of hops. The idea here is to highlight the subtleties of a single hop strain by pairing a clean grain bill with some of our favorite hops... or hops we wish to learn more about. The result is a beer with a crisp golden color and a pillowy mouth feel, each version being unique in its own way.
***This is an evolving list as we continue experimenting and pushing our limits to provide new offerings***
Achievement Day - Rye IPA - 6.0% ABV - One of the first batches we ever brewed on our 5 BBL system to celebrate the accomplishment of reaching the starting line… Opening Tox Brewing. The three of us put our heads together to collaborate on this Rye IPA.
Belladonna - Chocolate Coconut Stout - 6.8% ABV - Belladonna has quickly become one of our new favorites here at Tox. We start with a thick base stout and cram it full of freshly toasted coconut and cacao nibs. Let it warm in your glass as flavors of dark chocolate evolve into buttery coconut.
Copperhead – American Amber – 6.6% ABV – This is our dry-hopped American Amber Ale. We use crystal malts and a hint of roasted barley to achieve the traditional "Irish Red" coloring and malt characteristic. It is topped off with a touch of rye and a special hop blend to exhibit flavors of spicy pine and citrus. We hope this beer provides a swift and spicy bite like the snake we named it after, but also a balanced flavorful finish that comes in soft and peaceful, much like a walk through the Connecticut forest it occupies.
Ermahgourd - 6.1% ABV - Gourd Almighty! We chunk up nearly 50 locally grown squashes per batch to bring you this All-American Autumn offering. Orange in color with a subtle cinnamon and nutmeg aroma, this beer represents Autumn in a glass.
Gift - Vienna Style Lager - This is our interpretation of a Vienna Lager. Amber-reddish in color, our goal was extreme balance between semi-sweet and bready malt flavors and an extremely crisp, dry, noble hop character. We think we succeeded. “Gift” is a German word that directly translates to “Poison” in English.
Holly - Winter Spiced Ale - Way back when Jon was still mentoring us on a 5-gallon homebrew setup, he was already making this once a year winter spiced ale that is never the same. Depending on how he feels that day, week, month, or year will heavily influence this holiday treat... Sometimes he even lets us collaborate with him! We have seen him use Vanilla, Cinnamon, spices, herbs, and who knows what else. We are happy to have him bring it to you every holiday season.
Mantis - Connecticut Table Beer - 4.1% - Excited by a new funky yeast to hit the market, we decided to craft a beer along the style guidelines of a Grisette or Saison with it in mind. We then decided to 100% make it with Connecticut ingredients. We chose a light, crisp malt profile from our friends at Thrall that includes raw Triticale, paired with a floral and fruity tasting CT grown hop. The phenolic and fruity yeast esters have all kinds of fun wild characteristics, making this a real party for the palate.
Pharm Party - Rotating Experimental Series - This beer is never to be brewed the same twice! Pharm Party is our research and development series where we experiment with every variable possible in pursuit of our next great thing... or when we just have some leftover ingredients we need to use up.
Toxtoberfest - Festbier - 6.2% ABV - This is our take on a Festbier that features the finest German malts and hops. We went a little maltier than a modern German Festbier, but not quite as heavy as your typical American Oktoberfest. The result is a full-bodied but sessionable beer perfect for football-viewing needs and keeping lookout for Trick-or-Treaters.
Wisteria – Coffee Maple Stout – 9.0% ABV – Say hello to breakfast! This imperial breakfast stout starts with a thick base and meticulously chosen roasted and flaked malts. It was first made with Jon's home-roasted coffee and Mike's own homemade, dark amber maple syrup from his trees and trees around his neighborhood. Since making our commercial transition we handpicked local maple syrup that meets our standards and have carefully selected raw coffee beans that we roast in house. It was important for us to keep control over these variables in order to keep the foundation of what has made this one of our favorite beers to make after maple syrup season each year.
***We have so many ideas and plans to grow this list as we become fully operational***
